OUR PROGRAMS


1. Young Women on the Move             

  • community or school based program
  • weekly sessions, September through June
  • performing arts (dance, acting, singing, spoken word, etc.)
  • communication skills, social/emotional skills, team-building, leadership development
  •  life skills related to growing into womanhood whole and healthy      

 

2.  On Becoming a Woman 

  •  School or community based
  •  8 to 10 weeks, weekly 60-90 minute meetings, 20-25 participants per group             
  • ·family values, growing into womanhood, transition to high school, social graces
  •  understanding and expressing emotions, anger management, and healthy relationships
  •  social-emotional skill development, communication skills, presentation skills

 

3.  GIM (Girls In Motion)         

  • school-based
  • 20 week program, 10 weeks in the Fall & 10 in the Spring, weekly 45—90 minute meetings
  • 15-30 participants per group
  • healthy lifestyles through physical activity and nutrition
  • social skills, speaking and presentation skills
  • girls-led, in-school health fair

 

4. Project 21-20

  • parent/guardian and adolescent/teen daughter luncheons with facilitated conversations on sex             
  • community, church or school-based
  • 10 year initiative starting in 2010 and ending in 2020
  • meeting times and group sizes will vary           
  • family planning, effective communication skills, money management, living green, setting and achieving goals
  • intergenerational workshops
  • statewide groups and initiatives

 

5.  Performance Smarts

  • school-based, 10 week   program, weekly meetings
  • available September through June
  • up to 30 participants per group           
  • performing arts activities
  • focus and self discipline through creative movement and improvisation
  • reading comprehension and appreciation enhancement
  • end of program performance
  • adapting literature to life
  • teacher in-service included

 

 6.  Litter Free Communities

  • community or school-based program, 12 weeks
  • weekly meetings. Coed, March through October
  • 40 participants per group        
  • keeping neighborhoods litter free
  • learning to care for the environment and the hazards of litter
  • planting flowers and learning to care for them

7. Summer Theatre Program             

  • community-based program
  • July through August, Monday through Friday
  • 30-40 participants per group
  • partnership with Rebecca Crown Community Center, 7601 S. Phillips
  • partnership with Grand Crossing Park,7655 S. Ingleside        
  • acting, singing, dance instruction
  • play creation and production
  • end of program performance
  • camp registration fee

8.  The Game of life

  • living your ideal life one day at a time
  • on site, single session workshop
  • times negotiable
  • 150 participants max.             
  • the power of words, expectations, being the change you want to see
  • discipline, time-management, goal-setting, visioning
  • healthy relationships and lifestyles
  • movement as stress release

 

9.  Social Dance/Social Graces

  • community or school-based
  • 20 week program, 10 weeks in the Fall & 10 in the Spring
  • weekly 45—90 minute meetings, 30 participants per group
  • coed groups    
  • effective communication skills
  • partner dances (stepping’, waltz, salsa, etc)
  • etiquette instruction

 

Learn More About Global Girls

We're all about courageous, talented girls learning how they can change our world.

In weekly sessions, we. engage teams of girls in activities that build strong communication, leadership and life skills. Many activities are conceived, developed, implemented and evaluated by the girls themselves with adults providing assistance as needed. We use the performing arts as the vehicle to demonstrate and reinforce skills.
